Animal Shelters and Pounds

Lost and Found Animals

If a pet dog or cat is found roaming, Council officers will try to identify and return the pet to its registered home.

The pet will be held by officers for a short time. The pet will be taken to Sippy Creek Animal Pound if:

  • No-one is home
  • An owner cannot be identified through microchipping or registration information
  • An owner cannot be contacted
  • The animal is declared dangerous

If you have found an animal, please contact Council

If you have lost your pet you can contact Council and report your animal as lost, as this will assist us in a quick return if your animal is collected by one of our officers.

Noosa Council has partnered with Sunshine Coast Council and utilises the Sippy Creek Animal Pound for impounded animals. Lost animals that have been impounded can be viewed online.

If your animal has been impounded, all relevant fees must be paid at the Noosa Council Chambers in Tewantin before the animal is released from the Sippy Creek Animal Pound.

Registered pets are held for a maximum of three working days before relocation or assessment.
